There’s nothing quite as exciting as a blue-blooded birth – unless you’re expecting, too. In which case, Kate Middleton’s baby bump is in serious danger of stealing your thunder. But fear not: you can pip her to the post-natal post and pop yours out first with a little help from the Royal Labour of Love Menu, launching at The Cinnamon Club this July.
To coincide with the royal delivery, Executive Chef Vivek Singh and Head Chef Rakesh Nair have designed a menu packed with ingredients to curb cravings, keep mother and baby healthy, potentially kickstart labour, and help recuperate and restore – courses to see you through the nine-month labour of love that is pregnancy. By the time you’ve finished the five-course feast, excellent modern Indian food might not be the only thing the chefs have helped deliver.

The £45 menu has been divided into four, tongue-in-cheek dishes to mimic the stages of pregnancy: Expecting; 9 Months; Overdue; and finally, Special Delivery. There’s even a rest course called And Breathe, should you need to take a break from fire, spice and all things nice.
For years, old wives’ tales have suggested eating Indian to help induce pregnancy; but whether it kickstarts your labour or just gives your taste-buds a chilli kick, the fiery lamb main course is a delicious way to enjoy the chefs’ famed fare within the grand confines of the Grade II-listed, Old Westminster library. And those who go into labour in the restaurant will be rewarded with a free curry for their efforts every year on the anniversary – not before being driven to the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, of course! So bring a bump to the London’s legendary Indian restaurant this summer.
